SCTC-PCS Web Connection allows you to use your SCTC-PCS Phone in place of a computer modem. Whatever you've done before by connecting via a telephone wall jack, you can now do with your SCTC-PCS Phone and Connection Kit. With SCTC-PCS Web Connection, your computer connects over the PCS Network, giving you the freedom to access information when and where you choose.* All you need to have is a data-capable handset purchased from SCTC. Any minutes that you use while browsing the web are deducted from your minute's package.
For example, you can:
* Browse the Web - Access the World Wide Web through your regular service provider and web browser.
* E-mail - Use your regular email server or web based email.
* Synchronize your electronic schedules and contact managers - Synchronize all your schedules and contact lists while away from the office.
The SCTC-PCS Web Browser gives you the power to access a growing number of specially designed web sites. At only $10.99 per month you can send and/or receive 50 messages of up to 100 characters. It also comes with some pre-made messages to save you time. If you don't want to subscribe to web access, you can still use it at 49 cents per minute. SCTC-PCS Phones come equipped with a Mini-Browser, the UP.Browser™, from Phone.com.
To Activate Web Browsing . . .
* Power on the handset and locate the mini-browser icon on your PCS handset. Most handsets will have a Connect or Select button. (Choose either one.) Your handset will now launch your mini browser and display your homepage.
* To access sites not listed on your homepage you will need to select “GO TO . . . .“ This is located at the end of your Wireless Web menu. You will then be prompted to enter a URL of an HDML (Handheld Device Markup Language) or WML (Wireless Markup Language) site. You do not need to enter the http:// it is automatically entered for you.
* To bookmark a site you will need the URL for that site. Note that the URL for a wireless Internet site may vary from that of your normal "wired" PC. To create a bookmark, first “GO TO” that site and access the browser menu. Choose “Mark Site”. The browser will allow you to edit the name of the site. |
